Introduction

Add a shadow to a picture in DaVinci Resolve

Davinci Resolve gives the opportunity to add easily shadows to elements in your videos in a very simple way. A shadow can be applied to a text or even a picture having a transparent background, for example, a logo.

Shadows give depth to pictures and that makes videos more appealing.

How to

  1. Add a picture to the media pool.
  2. Go to the edit page.
  3. Add a background to the timeline in DaVinci Resolve.
  4. In the same way add the picture to the timeline.
  5. Open the Effects panel.
  6. Select Open FX.
  7. In the search field type: "shadow".
  8. Drag and drop the Drop Shadow element on the picture.
  9. If necessary adjust the values into the Inspector.
