Introduction

Add a shadow to a picture in davinci resolve

Davinci Resolve gives the opportunity to add easily shadows to elements in your videos in a very simple way. A shadow can be applied to a text or even a picture having a transparent background, for example a logo.

Shadows give depth to pictures and that makes videos more appealing.

How to

  1. Add a picture to the media pool.
  2. Go to the edit page.
  3. Add a background to the timeline in DaVinci Resolve.
  4. Add the picture to the timeline.
  5. Open the Effects panel.
  6. Select Open FX.
  7. In the search field type: "shadow".
  8. Drag and drop the Drop Shadow element on the picture.
  9. If necessary adjust the values into the Inspector.
